Kosuke and Ena were playing a video game, he was complaining he couldn't see the screen from her, but she also wasn't looking at it and told him she was reading his face muscles to understand what he was doing and still beat him. Ayame and Kotonoha were observing them and commenting they were playing since 3 hours and that they used to be childhood friends. Kotonoha asked Ayame if she had a childhood friend, but Ayame told her no as she was bullied as she enjoyed observing bugs and write data on them. But all of that changed when she met a person she ended up admiring.
13 years ago, Ayame was looking at a pill bug and kids were making fun and throwing rocks at her. Later in a park she was looking at her data, when young Shinya came and seeing her study realized she was a science type like him. She pointed at his school bag, which various insults were written, just like hers, but Shinya told her he doesn't let such childish actions get him and that he approaches each situation calmly and rationally. Ayame told him she can't be like him and she just likes observing pill bugs and that no one needs her. But Shinya interrupted her telling her that if she liked to observe other organisms, she was a science type like him. He then pulled a graph data about employment and that science was always high no matter the year and that women had started to get hired more than men in that area, so that with science her future is set. He then told her she wasn't hated for her interest, but for her appearance and that she needed a hair cut and be confident. As the boy left and didn't say his name, Ayame still didn't knew who he was.
Ayame then commented that since then she wanted to be that boy and was aspired to cool and dignified. Shinya then joined the conversation and said he was also in elementary school there and that if he met that boy, he would has refused all he said. Kotonoha then realized the boy was Shinya himself, although they both still haven't realized it. As they started to argue about the employment rate, Kotonoha realized something. She then told them they haven't improved on their love experiment as they have not done normal couple things and told them to go on a date.
